About
As a boy growing up in the Devon countryside, James was always fascinated by art and he spent many hours painting the natural beauty of the landscape around him.
Whilst visiting stately homes and museums James discovered a love for the historical fine oil paintings exhibited there, and developed a strong desire to copy what he saw.
Not many children of 5 years old wanted to go to the national portrait gallery in London as a birthday treat, but this was what he chose. In later years family holiday locations were booked with art galleries in mind, such as the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, where he would spend hours studying every brush stroke on the beautiful paintings that adorned the walls.
After achieving A grades in Art at school James won a place at Falmouth University in Cornwall, from where he graduated in 2021, with a 1st class honours degree in Fine Art.
Since leaving University James has painted every day of the week, producing his oil paintings in his studio at home. Entirely self taught he is now completing works of art for marketing to include buyers such as interior decorators, stately home owners and more modern style works and commissions.
